Breaking Dawn Might Be Breaking Down

Breaking Dawn is threatening to break down as negotiations with stars seem to be crumbling. Everyone was all set for a single movie, but if they have to split it up into two movies, there will have to be renegotiation with the actors and that right now is what is threatening to break apart the movie. There are threats that if the actors won’t cooperate and ask for reasonable amounts of money, they may not be able to make the movies at all, or will kick one of the main stars holding up operations out of the next movie. If this ends up being the case they stand to either lose a lot of money by losing a lot of fans, or make a lot of money by possibly winning over some of the critics who don’t like the current cast as they are now.

Lynn Redgrave Died Sunday

Heartbreaking news for many movie buffs on either side of the pond, Lynn Redgrave died on Sunday. She was found in her New York City apartment. She had been ill for a long time and had survived at least one major breast cancer scare in 2003. She was well known and well liked for the movies she was in. One can only hope that she went peacefully and without pain. Unfortunately, death has no good time to come, and this is no different, coming at a time when the family was already grieving.

Bad Day for Tiger Woods

Tiger woods had a bad day his first tournament back in the public eye after he admitted to his affair.  He was all over the place and admitted after the game that he was glad he just didn’t manage to get a snowman, which is what golfers call an eight. He also said that he was just going to take off practice the next day. Usually after a bad day he just ends up breaking clubs anyway, so this seemed like a better option.

Obama Signs Student Loan Reform Bill into Law

Obama signed into action a Student Loan Reformation bill that will help students get student loans, keep these loans out of traditional banks, and will help students pay off loans as they can. This was only a day after signing into law a health reform law. Here is the video explaining a some of these two bills.

Little Rivers in Ocean City

I love the Little River Band, and I always have.  Ever since I first heard that song about the loser, I knew that these guys had somehow snuck into my room when I was sleeping and read all my mail.  And since then, I’ve been a number one fan, and one of the things that I really love about them is how they didn’t know what to call themselves, because they were Australian, and wanted to do music that the whole world would like, and when they were passing by a little river, the name was settled on, because it stuck.  But then over the years they’ve gotten to embrace their Australian roots even more, and this is an exciting evolution.

It’s great to hear that they will be playing in Ocean City this summer, because it’s to celebrate 35 years of their history as a band, and that’s the perfect age to be settled into an identity.  They keep changing, though, as multi-faced as the sphinx, and as timeless.  It would be a good idea to get a hotel ahead of time, and it would be a great excuse to get to see New Jersey.  This is the New Jersey with the shore and all the things in the Cool Change song, so it would be a romantic evening as well as an evening to reminisce about the past 35 years.

They’ve had a really great run, with a lot of hits in all of these years.  Every song speaks to a certain time in my life, when I had questions, or just wanted someone to be singing about what I felt.  They use harmonies, which is one of their big trademarks.  Even with all the different members they’ve had over the years, they’ve managed to keep that part of their musical vision intact.  Take It Easy on Me was the song that I loved the most when I was in high school, and I would play it whenever someone didn’t like me the way that I liked them.  It’s different now, being older, and that lonesomeness is replaced with a kind of beautiful move into an older me.
