forever. His parents and others knew it to when they started to notice how hard he could hit the ball. It made dings in the garage door of his childhood home. Since then his burgeoning talent has taken him to soaring to great heights of fame and fortune.

Like most professional tennis players, he discovered his dream early on to play tennis and never stopped pursuing that dream. His fierce talent isn’t the only thing that makes him a success on and off the courts. He has a charm and the looks that prove popular with fans and advertisers alike. Unlike the tennis bad boys of the seventies and the eighties, most players like Sampras have toned it down a bit, and try to keep temper to a minimum, thought there are always going to be a few flare ups from time to time.

However, Sampras is the kind of player that rarely loses his cool. During the year 1990, he won the US Open. At age nineteen, he is the youngest to do so, especially since you can only start to play the hard and heavy players at age eighteen. Throughout the years he has racked up some impressive numbers that are a testament to his strength and his skills as a player. With Grand Slams, he ranks with more than ten wins. At Wimbledon, he has been there and won that seven times. Additionally, he has two Australian Opens under his belt, and with the latest Australian Open Tennis Championship, he is looking probably to put one more there.

His style is part of what defines him as a player. He has great serves and volleys and a demeanor to match. He is always pleasant at interviews and to fans. He might not be flashy, but he does have certain kind of grace and gentleman charm. He is the Gary Cooper of the tennis court.

<a Sporting events can provide great lessons and spark the interest of a child in the sport. And there is nothing better than having a lifelong hobby like the sport of tennis. So the US Open, which takes place at the end of August and the beginning of September, realized that it’s important to include children and families in the tournament. That is why they have included their first ever family day at this year’s US Open tennis tournament.

The family day at the US Open tennis tournament, which takes place in Flushing Meadows, New York will be Tuesday September 1st, 2009. There are going to be many activities that are geared towards families to make that day at the tournament one to remember for adults and children alike. Some of the events are things like fun kid-friendly entertainment like stilt walkers and face painting. Also children can enjoy the Smash Zone at the US Open, which is an interactive fan experience at the US Open. It is sure to be a memorable and once in a lifetime experience for you and your family. And a little family togetherness is just a great way to experience the US Open tennis tournament.

If you can’t make it for family day, the tournament also has Arthur Ashe Kid’s Day. This takes places on Saturday August 29th, 2009. This day combines tennis with music to make for a fun filled day that kids and parents will enjoy. This year, former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks will be performing her new single at the event called “Battlefield.” This is combined with tennis matches that are played by former US Open winner Andy Roddick so that kids can get a close up look at some of their favorite tennis stars. There will also be interactive games and tennis clinics so that the kids can work on their game while they are at the open.

Family days at the US Open is a post from: RepGuardian

Related posts:

2009 French Open Tennis Tournament

French Open Highlights

French Open Tennis Coverage Heats Things Up

An Airplane Encounter with Sports Star Tom Rathman

Sports

Airplane Encounter

Nebraska Cornhuskers

Sports Star Tom Rathman

The Nebraska Cornhuskers, what an incredible football team! You might not be a fan, but most people will admit they admire and respect this great, legendary team. The sports ethics the team and the coaching staff adhere to is unrivaled. They are great athletes and great human beings. And the Nebraska fans are usually very respectful to the opposing team and their fans. Being from Nebraska, I too love the Cornhuskers and love watching them play. I haven’t been able to attend many games, but I love watching them and cheering them, whether I’m with a group of family and friends or by myself in my own living room. It’s an awesome sight to see that enormous sea of red and white and as you sit there watching, you can feel the electricity and tremendous energy flowing from the stadium. When there is a home game, the football stadium in Lincoln becomes the third largest city in Nebraska. And when the game is away, the ever-loyal fans follow. I’ve lost track of the number of consecutive sports tickets sellout home games for the Cornhuskers, but it’s a lot. And I have no doubt it will continue.

I had the extreme good fortune of sitting beside Tom Rathman the summer he was heading to the San Francisco 49er’s training camp in 1986. I was on a flight to Phoenix out of Omaha, I had the middle seat and he had the aisle. Being a people person by nature, I engaged this pleasant young man in a conversation, not realizing who he was, just that I was sitting by someone willing to visit to pass the time on an air flight. Of course I asked the usual “where you headed” and was momentarily speechless when he told me who he was and where he was going! I have to say, he was extremely polite, friendly, unassuming and downright nice. He seemed to enjoy our conversation and graciously autographed a napkin for my mother, who was a great fan of his and the Cornhusker team. What a thrill, what a memory!

An Airplane Encounter with Sports Star Tom Rathman is a post from: RepGuardian

Related posts:

Nebraska Cornhuskers: Go Big Red

French Open Highlights

Visiting Sydney

Nebraska Cornhuskers: Go Big Red

Sports

Cornhuskers

Go Big Red

Nebraska

rheumatoid arthritis

sports tickets

Tom Osborne

Nebraska Cornhuskers! How powerful those two words are! Whether they are spoken or written, they evoke immense feelings in the Nebraska Cornhusker fan! Instantly memories come alive regarding this highly respected football team. For as long as I can remember, there has been deep respect and admiration for this team of extremely talented players and their coaching staff, whether it was led by Bob Devaney or Tom Osborne. Proudly wearing their red and white colors, this team would enter the field and the fans would be there to cheer them on with all the enthusiasm and pride that could possibly be mustered. Home or away games, it didn’t matter, Cornhusker fans had their sports tickets and were there and they were powerful supporters.

One of those greatest fans was my mother. Every Saturday they played, she would put on her special red and white “Go Big Red” outfit, complete with her Cornhusker pin. Daddy would tune in the radio or find the TV channel and she would be ready to cheer them on. And she sure wasn’t a fair weather fan either. Even if they did not come out victorious, which did happen once in a great while, she never criticized the players or the coaching staff. They were her team and she stood by them always. Daddy on the other hand could be critical when things didn’t go the way he wanted and he had no trouble expressing it, but boy not mom. My mother was a small woman in stature who suffered greatly with rheumatoid arthritis, that, along with the cost of the tickets and getting to the games, attending in person was really not an option, but her heart, her sole, her pride and encouragement was at every game.

I was able to get two tickets to take her to her one and only game. I don’t even remember now who we played, I just know we won. But what I do remember is my mother. Us two women, me in my regular red and white clothes and mom in her special Cornhusker outfit and pin; sitting, standing, hugging and cheering as our boys did what they did so well. I still have mom’s outfit, it hangs in my closet right where I can see it every time I open the door. Mom died in 1994 but now she has the best seat in the house to watch her beloved Cornhuskers.

Nebraska Cornhuskers: Go Big href="http://www.corruption.us">corruption and the violence that surrounds the Mexican drug cartels. This has become a vicious war along the border, one that has both presidents, Barack Obama and Felipe Calderon meeting in order to discuss the options and the plan of attack. The cartels have waged war on each and on the governments of both the United States and Mexico. Armies were deployed in 2006 by Calderon, and the violence relating to the drug cartels have resulted in the murders of more than ten thousand people during the last three years. Obama has enacted the authority of officials, allowing them to seize all of the assets that the cartels have invested in the United States, this has affected three of the major cartels that are operating currently in the country Mexico. Americans involved in any way with assisting the gangs that are money laundering, the obtaining of very high powered guns and weaponry and transport of drugs will also face much more serious penalties and consequences.

There are a few heavy hitters or kingpins that are working in the country of Mexico today. The Sinaloa drug cartel operates in the states in the Western part of the country such as Durango, Chihuahua, Sonora and the Baja of California. This organization is responsible for transporting marijuana and cocaine across the border and into the United States. They traffic to not only the border states of California, Arizona, Texas but as far reaching as Chicago, Illinois and New York City. Heroin and methamphetamine are also transported by the Sinaloa. Joaquin Guzman Loera is one of the cartel’s leaders. Eight years ago he escaped from prison and has not been caught. He is listed on the Forbes list of the world’s most wealthy and his estimated worth is over one billion dollars. He is one of the two top drug dealers in the country. Both countries are working together to interrupt the connections and the funding of these cartels, and while much has been accomplished, but there is still so much work to be done in the future.

Corruption and the Mexican Drug Cartels is a post from: RepGuardian

Related posts:

Phoenix Arizona lawyers Can Help You With a Bankruptcy Case

Travel somewhere different in the US

2009 French Open Tennis Tournament

Sports

french open

french open 2009

tennis

The eyes of the world will soon be shifting to Paris, and the Roland Garros Stadium, for the 2009 French Open. Running May 24th through June 7th, this year’s Open promises to deliver the same caliber of rigorous Grand Slam tennis of years past. The French Open is the second of the four Grand Slam events, widely regarded as the world’s most prestigious series of tournaments.

The slower ball and higher bounce associated with clay court tennis is but one challenge. Due to the five-set men’s singles matches, with no tiebreaker; many have called The French Openthe most physically demanding tournament in the world.

The red clay courts of Roland Garros Stadium have proven to be a hindrance to many of the world’s greats. Jimmy Connors, Martina Hingis, John McEnroe, Maria Sharapova, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer have all failed to bring home the French Open trophy, but there are some players who can work the nuances of the courts to their advantage. Much like a Chef specializing in a regional cuisine, playing on the courts of Roland Garros requires a more specific touch, and the number of players who feel at home here reads like a who’s who of champion’s.

In this year’s event Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova will give the French Open title another effort, while Novak Djokovic will attempt to add the second Grand Slam event to his Australian Open victory. Rafael Nadal, along with Serena Williams and Andrew Murray, are looking all looking very strong, and expected to shine.

2009 French Open Tennis Tournament is a post from: RepGuardian

Related posts:

French Open Tennis Coverage Heats Things Up

French Open Schedule Builds Anticipation

French Open Highlights

Well Armed Takes Top Prize in Dubai

Society

Sports

dubai

Dubai World Cup

five star hotel

Regal Ransom

thoroughbred racing

Well Armed

Spectators witnessed a record-breaking victory in yesterday’s Dubai World Cup race.
